1. Cuckoo

Dan Snierson from Entertainment weekly reports:

Michael Chiklis and Cheryl Hines are now parents in an NBC comedy pilot.

The pair will star in Cuckoo, an adaptation of the British series in which a daughter (Rachel DiPillo) returns from a summer overseas with a new husband (Flula Borg), and her father is far from impressed with the “charming but infuriating eccentric named Cuckoo” who is moving in with the family. Chiklis assumes the role of the unhappy father, Ken, while Hines will play his wife, Lori, who is much more accepting of Cuckoo.

Chiklis is returning to the network where he once anchored the comedy Daddiobefore going on to star in The Shield and No Ordinary Family. He spent last season on American Horror Story: Freak Show. Hines, meanwhile, starred on Suburgatory and Curb Your Enthusiasm

The BBC version of the show starred Andy Samberg in season 1 and Taylor Lautner in season 2. The show’s creators, Robin French and Kieron Quirke, are writing the NBC pilot with Simpsonswriter-producer Tim Long, who will also serve as executive producer.

     2. Orange Is The New Comedy

While a TV Academy panel allowed hourlong dramedies Glee, Jane the Virgin and Shameless to compete as comedies in the 2015 Primetime Emmy race, it has turned down Netflix’s petition for Orange Is the New Black to also be considered a comedy.
