We rarely have the opportunity to view a documentary that is real, relevant and on-point with current events. We are in an era that people are very hyper-sensitive towards comments. Comedy clubs are a sanctuary where you should be able to go and leave your political views and beliefs at home and go see a comedian entertain you. This documentary showcases the challenges that comics experience and the changes of today’s youthful audience. Available on iTunes for digital download http://canwetakeajoke.com In the age of social media, nearly every day brings a new eruption of outrage. While people have always found something to be offended by, their ability to organize a groundswell of opposition to—and public censure of—their offender has never been more powerful. Today we’re all one clumsy joke away from public ruin. Can We Take A Joke? offers a thought-provoking and wry exploration of outrage culture through the lens of stand-up comedy, with notables like Gilbert Gottfried, Penn Jillette, Lisa Lampanelli, and Adam Carolla detailing its stifling impact on comedy and the exchange of ideas. What will future will be like if we can’t learn how to take a joke?

Introduced as “the black unicorn,” Tiffany Haddishs says her way onstage to open her first solo stand-up comedy special, and closes it by spreading her joy and newfound success across the audience and into the camera. And don’t mind Haddish for wanting to live it up. Even if she apologizes for it sometimes. “Sorry, I really just wanted to be ratchet for 10 seconds,” Haddish jokes at the start of her hour. “It feels good, though. I feel like I’ve come a long way.” Tiffany Haddish’s career is taking off like a rocket. Case in point: The comedian and actor has her very first comedy special, called She Ready! From the Hood to Hollywood, debuting on Showtime tonight! Filmed at Los Angeles’ Nate Holden Performing Arts Center, the special will be a look inside the life of one of comedy’s biggest up-and-comers, covering everything from growing up in the LA foster care system and standing up to bullies to modeling at her local mall and introducing Will and Jada Pinkett Smith to Groupon. Haddish’s comedy is genuine, energetic, and highly personal, which is what makes her so much fun to watch. Haddish is best known for her role in the popular sitcom The Carmichael Show, as well as parts in the hit films Keanu with Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key and Girls Trip alongside Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith and Regina Hall. In addition to her film and television roles, Haddish has earned her comedy chops performing on Def Comedy Jam, Reality Bites, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show, Chelsea Lately and more.
